James D. Brubaker is a successful film producer, credited with some of the industry’s highest grossing films — and a studio executive. As President of Physical Production at Universal Studios (2002-2007), he supervised the production of over 50 films in 14 countries with budgets totalling over a billion dollars. Most recently he produced Chef, written and directed by Jon Favreau. James most notable credits include: Bruce Almighty with Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston, and Morgan Freeman; Dragonfly with Kevin Costner; The Nutty Professor and The Nutty Professor 2 starring Eddie Murphy; Life featuring Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence; Gia with Angelina Jolie (Director’s Guild Outstanding Movie for Television); and Liar, Liar with Jim Carrey.
James executive produced many more movies, including most of Sylvester Stallone’s films in the 1980’s (Over The Top, Cobra and Rocky IV); A Walk In The Clouds with Keanu Reeves and Anthony Quinn; and The Right Stuff (4 Academy Awards). Prior to producing, James served as Production Manager on Raging Bull, Comes A Horseman, New York, New York; Associate Producer of Rhinestone, Rocky III and True Confessions; James has been a lecturer and teacher at UCLA and served as an advisor to student filmmakers at USC. Professional associations include the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, The Director’s Guild of America, Screen Actors Guild and The Producer’s Guild of America.
